Free target word lists
Every words or less round needs a list of target words the clue-giver has to land inside a fixed clue budget. These free lists are grouped by difficulty and theme so you can start a home game immediately, and the generator will build a fresh list when this page runs dry.
Use this guide
Pick a category and take the first five to eight words as one round. Keep the list hidden from the guessing team, agree on a clue budget of 15, 20, or 25 words, and work down the targets in order. Each group below is sized so you can pull several rounds from it before repeating.
Five to eight is the usual range. Five suits a tight 15 word budget, eight suits a relaxed 25 word budget. More than eight tends to leave most of the list unguessed, which feels flat rather than difficult.
Easy words have an obvious single-word association, which is what a tight clue budget rewards. Hard words are abstract or compound, so the clue-giver has to spend several words or skip them. Mix roughly three easy targets to every hard one for a round that stays winnable.
Themed rounds land better at parties because everyone shares the references. Use a holiday, a film series, an office in-joke, or the group's own history. The generator takes a custom theme and builds the list for you when you want something specific.
A printed list is useful when there is no signal, but it gets memorized after two or three plays and the difficulty never adapts. Generating a list each round keeps the targets unfamiliar, which is the entire point of a guessing game.

Five to eight target words per round. Use five with a 15 word clue budget and up to eight with a 25 word budget.
Yes. Use your browser's print option to take any category to paper for a home game. The generator is the better option when you want a list the group has not seen before.
Something concrete with one strong association. Concrete nouns work best because the clue-giver can land them in a single word, which is what a tight budget rewards.
Yes. Enter a custom theme such as an office, a holiday, a film series, or your friend group's own running jokes, and the generator builds a list around it.
