Expert clue challenge

10 Words or Less Game

The 10 Words or Less game is the speed-run version of CardYard's limited-clue challenge. The generator starts with five targets and stops the spoken-word counter at ten, so every clue has to earn its place.

Strategy for this preset

Make 10 words count.

  1. 01

Treat ten words as five strong clues

Start with one association per target and protect the remaining five words for misses. Full sentences are almost never worth the cost. If a target has no obvious one-word clue, skip it and bank an easier point first.

  2. 02

    Use concrete targets

Five concrete nouns create a fair ten-word round. Abstract words can consume half the budget on their own, so mix in no more than one difficult target until the group learns how aggressively it needs to skip.

  3. 03

    Score efficiency, not speeches

Award one point per correct target and a bonus point for clearing all five with words remaining. The preset counter stops at ten, which removes arguments about whether the clue-giver accidentally went over.

Worked example
