Forehead guessing game
How to play Who Am I?
Who Am I? is a fast party game for one phone. One player holds the phone to their forehead with the screen facing the group. Everyone else gives clues without saying the word: describe it, act it out, do the voice. The guesser has 60 seconds to get as many as they can. Tap the bottom half of the screen when you get it and the top half to pass, or turn on tilt and nod the phone down for correct and up to pass. When the clock runs out, everyone sees every word that was guessed and passed.
Play a round in four steps
- Pick a deck: Party Mix, Animals, Characters, Famous People, Movies, Christmas and more, or type your own theme.
- Choose tap or tilt and a round length of 30, 60, 90 or 120 seconds, then press Start round.
- Hold the phone to your forehead during the 3 second countdown, screen facing your friends.
- Guess from their clues. Correct and pass move to the next word. When time is up, check the recap and pass the phone on.
Rules in detail
- Clues
- Anything goes except saying the word, a part of it, or spelling it. Rhymes, sounds, songs and acting all count. Act It Out rounds are silent.
- Scoring
- One point for every correct word. Passing costs nothing, so skip fast when a word is not landing. Highest score after everyone has a turn wins.
- Tap or tilt
- Tap is on by default and works everywhere. Tilt uses the phone's motion sensor: nod the phone down for correct, tip it back for pass. On iPhone, Safari asks once to allow motion.
- Teams
- Play solo turns or split into teams. A team member holds the phone while their own team gives clues, and the recap shows each round's score.

- Video calls

Who Am I? questions
How do you play Who Am I? on a phone?
Open the game, pick a deck and press Start round. Hold the phone to your forehead with the screen facing your friends. They give clues, you guess, and you tap the bottom half for correct or the top half to pass until the timer ends.
Is Who Am I? free?
Yes. Each round uses one of CardYard's two free draws a day, shared across games, and your own word lists are unlimited. Premium removes the daily cap and unlocks the Spicy 18+ deck and adult themes.
Do I need to download an app?
No. It runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop. CardYard also has an iPhone and Android app if you prefer one.
Why is tilt not working on my iPhone?
Safari only allows motion after you tap Tilt and then Allow. If you tapped Don't Allow, tap controls stay on; you can reset motion access in Safari's website settings. Tap play always works.
What is the difference between Who Am I? and charades?
In charades one person acts and the group guesses. In Who Am I? the guesser cannot see the word, and the group gives any clues it likes, spoken or acted.
How many players do you need?
Two players are enough: one guesses, one gives clues. It works best with 3 to 10, in solo turns or teams.
Can I make my own cards?
Yes. Type a theme and AI writes about 30 words for it, or paste your own list of 5 to 300 words.
Is it good for kids?
Yes. The Kids deck uses simple words, and every deck except Spicy 18+ is family friendly.
